Unintended Book Shopping

It has been an entire year since I last posted, Wowza! I always have some form of writings to channel my "need" of immortalizing my thoughts, especially during work. But posting in here hasn't been the thing for me for an entire year and I also still wonder why. Was it the deficit of time, energy or maybe both ? These draft posts have just been laying around, waiting someday to be revisited. And now is the day !

I initially wrote this draft last year, and I find it amusing to see myself reading these type of books despite on what I used to read when I was much younger or when I was a teenager. I still remember that my Dad used to buy me educational books about nature and space. That space book is the one I remember vividly; from it I learned that our sun's size and temperature is incredibly outmatched compared to the Betelgeuse and probably that is the main influence that made me took science as my major in high school, and then made me took a brave option : to enroll at the Astronomy undergraduate major of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), spoiler : I didn't pass. I did pass in another university but I'm saving that story for another time, because it's one of the crossroad moments of my life.

Growing older, as a normal teenager, I enjoy reading science fiction, thriller, fantasy, and of course Japanese comic books. Back in the end 90s/early 2000s, when I travel with my family to our relatives in other cities, carrying those books are a must. I even remember when I was in college, I printed the lore of Starcraft to be read on the way during my rides (my life for Aiur !). You can see more of the books I read at my Goodreads account to figure out my reading taste. And now, in my mid 30s, those are the books I'm buying. I'm undeniably getting older.

I initially started looking for personal development books after feeling numb of the situation I found myself in. My colleagues also happen to be book readers, then suggested me to read The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. After scrambling around Tokopedia, I found this book shop that has decent collection of personal development and best selling books, and found myself buying 6 of these books all at once. This is my first time buying these much personal development books, what amazes me is I didn't know I had this kind of interest of these kind of topics. Makes me wonder of what kind of a person I'm becoming.

Since this draft was made, I already finished 4 books (yeah, you read it right, turns out I just bought it and left it on the shelf for that long). What made me come back is because I was planning to buy another book, lol. I was searching for a work-related book called The DevOps Handbook, but I remembered that I still have unread books still perfectly wrapped in plastic.

I figured that I'm going to make a Book category/section in this blogsite for the upcoming future, just to differentiate the type of post for easier reading. And I'll try to make my own summary of the books I've read and how it made sense for reading in my life's journey.
